Currently, only 2 out of 17 exams have been done, but luckily by the end of next week I'll only have 10 left. Bad news is that I should be revising like crazy, when infact I am lazy and so forth get awfully tired about it. Oh well.
But in deep curiosity of things, I have noticed that I never actually put up what happened in Italy. SO I am going to do that now, whilst avoiding my parents trying to get me to revise.
DAY 1- We got to school on time, around 3 in the morning, ready to head off to Italy. However, the coach arrived horrendously late, around an hour and a half late actually. Needless to say, we were all a little annoyed and surprised by this, especially as it was April Fools. We all got to the airport on time, and after checking bags in and going through security, we managed to get on the plane just fine. We arrived in Italy, which was cloudy and rather dull, but warm. Now, we got to Rome, and to our first hotel, Hotel Center 2, which was fine to me by the standards where the hotel was. After dropping bags off (and managing to almost break our rooms lock), we had lunch at a McDonalds, and started the very long and tiring walk to the Vatican. But when we got there, it was HUGE, and really pretty. Judging by the olive branches and chairs in the square, it must have been the first of many Easter services (Palm Sunday it was). Managing to eat BLUE ICE CREAM (egads), all of us made our way back. In the evening, we ate, not at Devil Planet (BRING ON THE FIRE), but at another place, with a weird accordion guy and okay food. However, I was feeling rather dizzy (ALL the travelling), but getting outside was good. The Trevi Fountains were... pretty spectacular and gorgeous, yet was spoiled by street vendors.
DAY 2- To the Pantheon, the house of the gods! It was, again as all touristy places, full of people, but the work inside was lovely. After another ice cream fix (this time caramel, whilst Lilly got lemon, a really refreshing flavour), it was off to the Colleseum (after losing a bunch of people). It was massive, and certainly great to be in. There was a cat, and everyone was stroking it, when all I thought was, 'You know that cat could be disease ridden or something?'. Outside, I had the worlds most plain pizza (hot cheese and tomato in 2 slices of flatbread), and again headed off to the Forum. Again, lovely to be in, but due to time constrictions we rarely had a look around. I also slipped off the kerbside, yet I'm used to that *cough*almostflattenedselfbyquadbike*cough*.
DAY 3- 9 in the morning, we were off to the next destination, Sorrento. But first we went to the ancient port of Ostia. The fact we could go around all the ruins was surprising, and you could make out a lot of the architecture there. The next stop we had was at a cafe, where everyone bought chips, Haribo (plus illegal ones) and threw away their packed lunch. We got to Naples and... YES WE ALL DIED OF ITS BEAUTY. The sea was shining really brightly, and Vesuvius was in full view, so naturally everyone started taking pictures. Our hotel... was epic. Our room (sharing with Lilly and Abs) was huge, the bathroom was huge, we had a massive roof (shared with Year 9's, natch) and there was italian TV. So we watched things like Pokemon, Fireman Sam and Bob the Builder. In the evening, it was our first taste of Sorrento, and it is so much more enjoyable than Rome. There was a great snack shop called 'Ice Dream' there, and plenty of shops to look in.
DAY 4- Pompeii for the whole day! It is a fantastic area, and all of us enjoyed it. The tour guide was certainly good (plus she said 'Mama Mia!'), and we DID find Caecilius' house, but it was blocked off for work, so no 'Caecilius est in Horto' jokes. At lunch, I took photos of Lilly, as she dressed like Chibitalia and she brought the curl! It was funny, despite probably everyone else looking at us and thinking what weird people we are. After walking throught the brothel (which was kinda awkward), we managed to see dead bodies and other excavated goods, including the Voldemort statue (it had no nose). Again, the evening was spent in Sorrento. At this pont as well, my cough was acting worse, and would continue to get worse.
DAY 5- We got to Herculaneum that morning, and immediately after the tour started I noticed I was feeling rather sick. Walking was fine, it was just that whenever we stopped, I immediately felt my stomach go awry. I tried taking photos to keep the mindset off, but it wasn't helping one bit. This continued until we got back to the coach. We couldn't eat lunch on the coach, but I wasn't particularly hungry. That afternoon was Vesuvius. It was raining when we got there, so in a thought of rashness, bought an XL blue Italia hoodie. It was 10 euros after all, but luckily fitted me fine. It took about 20 minutes to get to the top, and looking into the top, there was occasional smoke! Plus, the clouds were beginning to lift in the distance, so you could look down and see all the towns below which was astounding. Making the way down and back to the coach, I found myself eating a little again, which helped a lot. But that day I was coughing loads, and so my voice started to go all over the place. It would get worse too. That evening, there was a procession, because it was Holy Thursday. It was rather interesting, but then stuff happened. It didn't prepare us for the following evening either...
WILL COME BACK AND FINISH THIS.
